New Zealand Pub Quiz Championships

Registrations for the 21st annual New Zealand Pub Quiz

Championships are officially open!

New Zealand’s premiere trivia event is back for its 21st year. On Sunday 29 November, the best quiz-goers will gather all around the country to compete for the glory of being crowned New Zealand’s best quiz team. If you think you and your teammates have what it takes, fill in the form linked below, and send it to info@believeitornot.co.nz, alongside your entry fee.

This year’s event is a little different. Because of the possibility of regional lockdowns being in play, we didn’t want to centralise the NZPQC in one location. Since we can only proceed in Level 1, hopefully this means that even if one region is hit with a Level increase, the rest of them can go ahead.

The venues are:

The Blacksmith, Takanini, Auckland

The Hangar, Henderson, Aucklands

1841 Bar, Johnsonville, Wellington

The Turf, Parklands, Christchurch

The Kensington, Kensington, Dunedin

This year’s hosts are Believe It or Not’s own Matt Ansley and Brendan Lochead. To maintain integrity and make sure everyone is receiving the quiz simultaneously, they’ll be hosting via an online stream which each venue will tune into.

We’ll take various precautions to ensure the quiz continue even if the internet explodes at a venue.

The quiz itself will be a normal (though slightly harder) BION eight round quiz which you all know and love.

The top three teams nationally will receive prizes (prizes TBC closer to the event), and the venues will reward each of their individual top three teams with the classic pub quiz bar voucher prize.

The entry fee is $80 per team. Each team may have a maximum of eight people. Entries close at 5 pm on Monday 23 November. The event is strictly limited to the size of the individual venues, and spots will be given to teams who have registered and paid on a first-come-first-served basis, so get in quick!
